This saga began back in the winter when I asked what the markings on trees meant. That's too late to be asking. But, where had the notice letter of the management plan gotten to? Had it been mailed? Yes, the appeals appear in the state-wide paper, but... usually I get such a letter. but not this time. odd. (let the conspiracy theorist arise!). So, when i understood how unique this grove of trees was, I asked the local congressman's office to help me contact the USFS ONF management to inform them of this old growth forest. A friend watching me go through all this was laughing, "they don't listen to the 'little people'" I think he said. No one seemed interested, except 6th graders and a few high school students from the local school. Alas, I don't think they got their letters written asking for access to this part of the national forest for a "forest lab" and "habitat monitoring" project. I did tell the congressman's office they were interested & a request was forthcoming... then logging activity started. (see conspiracy theory, above). got to let it go.
